SAM SMITH'S SPECTRE  TITLE SONG IS HERE

The Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes penned title song for the upcoming Bond movie Spectre "Writing's on the Wall" has been released today via Capitol and shot straight to #1 on the iTunes U.K. chart.

A haunting love theme with soaring violins, tinkling keys and Smith's trademark soulful vocals, the track was premiered this morning on BBC Radio 1 Nick Grimshaw's Breakfast Show.

"Writing's on the Wall" was written while Smith was in the studio recording vocals for his debut single, “Lay Me Down.” Napes started playing chords in the break, the duo were inspired, and they finished it that same day.

Describing "Writing's on the Wall" as “a grower, Smith told Grimshaw, This song isn't a big pop song, it's a classic Bond song." Hitting #1 on the charts isn't on the agenda either, he further explained. "It's not a #1 friendly song. I'm not looking for that, I just want to join an incredible list of people [that have recorded Bond themes] and do it justice."

Will the track's popularity propel it to the top of Blighty's Official Charts and prove Smith wrong? Keep your eyes peeled for the midweek update on Monday.
